Nutritional psychology as a formal field of study and the role of the The Center for Nutritional Psychology is explored in this revolutionary episode. Ms. Lu breaks the mold on how scholars and practitioners can embrace the link to how we think, feel and experience food in relation to human development.
Jill and Ephi discuss the role of how our emotions, our desires and our quest for feeling better impact our dietary habits, how simple food availability is a major influence in your eating choices and so much more exciting content in today's episode!
In a new study, they show that children who eat healthier diets have better emotional state of mind, with calm, and confidence than their peers who perceive their diets as not being as healthy.
Ephi Morphew-Lu has spent the last 17 years supporting the systematic development of a new field of study connecting the psychological and nutritional sciences, referred to as Nutritional Psychology. Her journey began in 2008, when she developed and taught the first university-level course in Nutritional Psychology at JFK University. These courses grew into a 7-course certificate program training mental health and allied health professionals in until early 2020.
In 2015, she co-founded The Center for Nutritional Psychology, a non-profit educational organization that houses the world’s research exploring the connection between nutrition and psychological health. Today, CNP houses thousands of studies informing our understanding of the connection between nutrition and psychology, provides continuing education for mental health and nutrition professionals approved by the American Psychological Association, the Commission on Dietetic Registration and other large credentialing organizations, and is developing interdisciplinary language connecting the psychological and nutritional sciences. CNP's bold mission is to ensure that by 2030, nutrition becomes a systematically recognized and integrated component of mental healthcare worldwide.
During her personal time, Ephi is a wife, mom to two teenagers and a fabulous poodle named General Patton, finds peace in her garden with the General, and spends much of her internal free time daydreaming about a day when mental health professionals can hold the space to formally support their clients’ diet-mental health relationship.

Paul Gaylon talks about our need to nurture and feed our soil in our order to create healthy plants to feed our families.
Where does true health begin? Does it begin in the person, in our foods, in the seed or does true health begin in the soil?
The concept of regenerative farming supports all 4 of these needs for optimal human and planetary health, highlighting the importance of soil biology renewed and continuing life.
But healthy soil just doesn’t just happen overnight. To create one inch of topsoil takes nature 100 years. Today, our current agro-farming techniques, deplete and ravish our soils and nutrients. What can we do as homeowners, as a community and how can we support our local farmers and even those on a large scale in creating healthier soil ecosystems?
What lies beneath our feet is pretty cool! Tune in to find out!! Learn more about Paul below.

Exploring the Union of Nature and Science in Skincare with host Jill Troderman and guest Aesthetician Donna Cherie Ep. 13 6/25/25
Skin Deep. Soul Soothing.
My next guest, Donna Cherie, says “Your skin tells a story—of resilience, of memory, of healing. “
So what does your skin tell about you, your history, and your lifestyle?
From scars, to wrinkles, to bumps and bruises, from rough skin to silky smooth skin, our outer layer tells a lot about who we are and where we have been.
But at different stages and phases of life, we need to tend to our skin in different ways so we can create the most healthiest skin, from the inside-out and the outside-in.
Today we are diving deep into redefining how and why to take care of our skin.
Do conventional treatments work or are we better off using natural products.
What about children and babies? We know they need sunlight to grow, but how much sun is good for their skin, what kinds of sunscreen if any should we use and how can we protect them from the harsh elements?
Today we have a very inspirational and dynamic guest who is passionate about all things skin, Donna’s Cherie!
Donna is a Holistic Aesthetician and devoted advocate for skin health. Her practice is rooted in care—care for your skin, your nervous system, and your sense of peace.
She believes that when we slow down, listen, and nurture with intention, true beauty begins to emerge.
Donna creates skincare experiences that are simple, soothing, and grounded in both nature and science—inviting your skin to heal, and your whole self to glow.

Bee Keeping and homesteading are rising trends in North American households. One hundred twenty five years ago most people embraced the homestead lifestyle because it was the only way most folks could survive and thrive.

They have acquired 20 bee hives, fruit trees, chickens and quail and together run the operation collecting honey, eggs and making vinegars.
It turns out they love it and look forward to interacting with the community!
